Sarah Newman - Lawyer

Sarah joined Bull, Son & Schmidt when the team from Jennifer E Darin joined us in early 2011. After studying her law degree part time while working full time as a property secretary and then as a conveyancing paralegal, Sarah found her first job as a junior property lawyer in 2000.  While working for some of the larger law firms in the CBD for the first 5 years of her career, Sarah acted for large corporate clients and has years of experience doing conveyancing and commercial and retail leasing.

After taking a break from the law for a year Sarah then commenced working with Jennifer Darin in her boutique firm in Chatswood, where she spent 6 years until the two firms merged.  Sarah adapted with ease to the different challenges of acting for individuals and smaller corporate clients rather than large corporations, working with both landlords and tenants of commercial and retail premises and all types of conveyancing, including acting for interstate and overseas clients.

Outside the office Sarah is amongst other things, a passionate motorcyclist.  Via that interest she has been involved in a range of charitable works including fundraising for breast cancer research, blood and organ donation awareness, children’s cancer research and Multiple Sclerosis research.  Wanting to pass on her experience and skills to others Sarah became involved with rider safety and education initiatives. She was also for some years Vice President of her club, Girls Ride Out Inc, a club run by women (predominantly but not exclusively) for women and new riders, and even tried her hand at amateur racing, collecting a few trophies along the way.

Sarah is happily married with no kids, 3 cats and a recent passion for health, exercise and fitness and various blends of “real” tea.
